Learn Reiki Community Classes

Classes in Reiki, the ancient practice of hands on healing, are available to the community at University Hospitals Extended Care Campus.

Each class is a combination of lecture, discussion and hands-on experience.  Practice time is included; however it is expected that you will practice after the courses to gain the confidence and experience needed to fully use and benefit from your Reiki training.

Because we wish to help you gain experience and confidence, opportunities to gain experience giving Reiki treatments are always available at the Extended Care Campus by becoming a member of the Reiki Volunteer Team that provides treatments to our residents and patients.  Call 440-285-4040 x2240 for more information.

Reiki I

Reiki is a therapeutic hands-on healing technique that promotes the relaxation response and accelerates a person's ability to heal at all levels -- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  Reiki is easily incorporated into standard medical treatment and therapies.  It creates a sense of well being that increases the rate of recovery or allows individual to come to terms with their illness or injury.  Each class is a combination of lecture, discussion and hands-on experience.  Practice time is included.

In Reiki I participants learn the history of Reiki, discuss how Reiki heals, and how to use it to help themselves and others, become attuned to Universal Life Force energy, learn hand positions for treatment, practice Reiki treatments for self and others and learn the Reiki principles.  Prerequisite: an open mind and a desire to help yourself and others.

Reiki II

Reiki II is open to those who have completed Reiki I and have practiced Reiki I for at least three months on themselves and/or others.  Participants will discuss their practice, learn and receive attunement to Reiki symbols that are used to increase the flow and focus of Universal Life Force energy, learn to send Reiki for distance healing and learn the techniques of Beaming and Scanning. Prerequisites: Reiki I and three months of practice.

A.R.T. - Advanced Reiki Training

A.R.T. is open to those who have completed Reiki II and have practiced Reiki for at least six months on themselves and others.  Participants will discuss their practice, learn and receive the Usui Master symbol which strengthens one's Reiki energy and increases the effectiveness of the other symbols, learn a Reiki Meditation to strengthen the mind and expand the consciousness, learn to use Reiki to protect oneself and others, practice advanced techniques to achieve goals and resolve life lessons, make a Reiki grid to continuously send Reiki to yourself and others and practice aura cleansing to assist in removing negative energy from yourself and others.  Prerequisites: Reiki II and six months of practice.

Reiki Master Training

The Reiki Master level furthers the practitioner's commitment to the Reiki healing process.  Participants will further their learning about the philosophy, purpose of Reiki and how to perform attunements.  An outline for the purpose of teaching Reiki will be included.  You must complete Reiki I, Reiki II and A.R.T. before you enroll in Reiki Master level.
